From Saturday 7th until 12 of November these are festivity days of intense activity. The most notable events are: the enactment of the discovery of the Virgin, the flower offering, the parade of humor, concerts, the parade of floats and a large fireworks display that takes place on Wednesday, last day of the fiesta.
The festivities date back to March 1740 when a boat appeared on the Benidorm coast dragged in by a violent storm. The boat was burnt to prevent epidemics; however some local boys found the image of the Virgin in the rubble and took her to the church where later they built a chapel. This story is staged each year on the “Poniente” beach on Saturday at five in the afternoon.

BENIDORM FIESTAS MAYORES PATRONALES 2015
Desde el sabado 7 hasta el 12 de noviembre son días festivos de intensa actividad. Los eventos más destacables son: la escenificación del hallazgo de la Virgen, la ofrenda de flores, el desfile del humor, conciertos, el desfile de carrozas y el gran castillo de fuegos artificiales que tiene lugar el miércoles, último día de la fiesta.
Las fiestas de Benidorm se remontan a marzo de 1740 cuando en las costas de Benidorm apareció un barco arrastrado por una fuerte tempestad. Tras quemarlo para evitar epidemias, unos muchachos encontraron la imagen de la Virgen entre los escombros y la llevaron hasta la iglesia donde, más tarde, se le construyó una capilla. Esta historia se escenifica cada año en la Playa de Poniente el sábado a las cinco de la tarde.
